If you are looking for a great new hairstyle, and have long hair, you may want something that's quick as well as trendy. Having long hair can be a hassle when it comes to finding a cool hairstyle that doesn't take long to do. However, with little teasing and twisting, your hair can look awesome in just a few minutes, and here's how to do it.

Step 1: Add Leave-In Conditioner After Washing

If you don't normally use a leave-in conditioner after washing your hair, now is as good of a time to start as any. Focus the application of the conditioner on the back or your hair near the top and the sides around your face, working all the way down the length of the strands. Applying this conditioner helps to add softness and shine to the twists you'll create, and help protect the back of your head from damage because of the teasing that you're about to do. Dry your hair as you normally would with a blow dryer, or let it air dry so that you can try out this style the next morning.

Step 2: Add Mousse or Styling Gel

Apply your normal hair styling mousse or gel as you would on any other day. However, add a little more product to the hair hanging down around the front of your face and the top back of your head.

Step 3: Strategically Tease Your Hair

Grab a fine-tooth comb and tease the top back of your head to provide a little volume. Don't tease too far down though, only go down about a couple inches from top of your hair.

Step 4: Twist the Sides

With each hand grab a small chunk of your hair from the very front of your face. Use your index finger to twist hair until it is twisted all the way to the scalp.

Step 5: Pull the Ends to the Back and Tie

Pull the twists to the back of your head and tie the strands together in a knot, just below the area that you teased. You should see a slight bump of hair in the back of the head just above the knot. If your hair does not want to stay in a knot, use bobby pins or a really small hair tie to hold it in place.

Step 6: Add Hairspray

Spray the knot and the teased bump well with hairspray to hold it in place.

Take the time to practice this hairstyle until you know exactly how tight you want the twists. If you prefer, you can braid the hair that you're pulling back from your face for a little variation in the look. Once you know exactly how you want it to look, you can find yourself heading out the door quickly with a hairstyle that only appears to have taken a long time to create. Ask your hair stylist for other ideas on fast dos for long hair.
